Dear Veterans, Active Duty Military Personnel and Families:

Over the years, before, during and after my service in the United States Navy, I have
met thousands of veterans, military service men and women who have served our
country in: World War II, Korean War, Vietnam, Grenada / Lebanon, Panama, Persian
Gulf War, and Iraq. This includes members of my family who served in World War II,
Vietnam and the Korean War. I am personally aware that there is nothing more
important than ensuring that our promises to veterans, active duty military service men
and women and their families are upheld to the highest degree without delay and
unnecessary red tape.

Many stories from my family members, fellow service members and veterans that I
have met over the years have shared with me. Stories regarding challenges they
experienced while transitioning from active duty military service to a new life as a
civilian have sent shock waves through me and has placed a fire under my feet that
moved me to bring immediate attention toward improvement.

One of the most important issues facing our veterans today is the receipt of quality
mental health care services. These are services that we must make available and make
significant improvement to, due to the new challenges brought about by modern day
war conflicts that ushers in new injuries and new consequences, that some of our
current medical facilities are now equipped to handle. We must upgrade and improve
these services now as veterans cannot wait months or years for us make the upgrades
and improvements.

These are a few of the reason why I fight to ensure the veteran’s voices are heard and
that their concerns are taken seriously regardless of their length of service and/or the
specific war they served within. I have pledged to empower the cause of ensuring that
veterans have access to mental health care. This must include an extensive list of
licensed, skilled and available doctors in their local area so that they are not required to
travel outside of their geographical area or without having to wait months for an
appointment.

I support legislation that will provide concurrent receipt of retired and disability pay, to
improve health care facilities, to improve job training, to ensure that the Veterans’
Administration (VA) has the funding it needs, and to provide greater educational
benefits with a new and improved GI Bill as well.

It will be an honor and a privilege to work on behalf of veterans at the State Capital as
a member of the State Assembly. To help move this process forward, I hereby invite
you to become a Founding Member of my newly formed committee entitled:
Veterans For Veteran Maggie Campbell Committee. This will give me the opportunity to
meet veterans before and during my term in office with an open door policy and liaisons
in the field who will report your concerns.  This committee is located in the 36th
Assembly District and it includes the Antelope and Victor Valleys.

The
Veterans For Veteran Maggie Campbell Committee is a committee formed to
encourage Veterans, Active Duty Military service men and women and their families to
join together to support and Elect Navy Veteran – Democrat Maggie Campbell in the
36th Assembly District. A candidate who encourages veterans, works very hard to help
our members to have their say, to get their concerns heard and to receive the support
they need.

“It would mean so much to me to have your early endorsement and to meet you in
person as I gear up my campaign for State Assembly in 2010. With you standing tall
with me at my side, we can achieve great victories for our fellow veterans, military
servicemen and women and their families. We have earned the respect and dignity that
is well deserving after having given so much to protect the United States of America
and our freedom.” – Maggie Campbell, United States Navy Veteran
